LaWanda Jones

October Member Spotlight - LML Gulf Coast

Buckled in for Success is LaWanda Jones!!  A mother of 2 boys, wife, sister and daughter who loves her community and being a Gulf Coast volunteer. She is the Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society, specifically for Relay for Life, Bark for Life (coming November 16), and other special events. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center and Biloxi Little Theater. LaWanda was selected to the 2020 Leadership Gulf Coast class and recently was recognized as the Lighthouse Business & Professional Women’s Women of Achievement winner in the Non-Profit division.

 

On a fun note, she will be performing at Center Stage in December as Ma Bailey in the Gulf Coast Nights Radio Theatre production of It’s a Wonderful Life. She is also co-director of Arsenic & Lace at Biloxi Little Theater which will premiere in January. LaWanda’s work/life balance is her community. She works for an organization that grows awareness in the community, but it is also her community that brings her peace and connectivity. For LaWanda, LML is one of those organizations that gives her “me time” that keeps her grounded and energized so she can continue to give back to our community.

We LOVE LaWanda and her LOVE for LML!!  We are so excited to have her in our tribe!

Natasha Pickett

September Member Spotlight - LMLGC

Natasha is a native of Crystal Springs, MS but has made her home in Gulfport since 2002 where she resides with her husband, Pastor Jakavious and two children Shae and Jaquille.  She currently serves as the COO and Co-Pastor of Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church of Biloxi.  Lady P, as she is affectionately known, is also the Director of the Women of Praise Ministry at PTBx where their motto is, “Leading Ladies, Building Legacies of Love.” 

Lady P is a visionary and has been considered one of the most influential up and coming business/community leaders on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Natasha and her husband were honored by the Biloxi NAACP as the 2016 and 2018 recipients of the Dorothy Lashley Religious Award.  As a natural beauty and relaxation guru obsessed with all thing’s wellness, she’s the proud Owner/CEO of Ta’Sha Spa the Beauty Bar.  She’s the Co-founder of the F.R.E.E Foundation, an active member of the Mississippi Gulf Chamber of Commerce and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce.  Natasha is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast.  One of Natasha’s greatest accomplishments is being the Founder of Praise Temple Biloxi’s Community Empowerment Festival which annually feeds nearly 1,000 people, provides groceries for hundreds of families, and provides insightful resources and information to everyone in attendance. Her motto for this event is give, love and serve.

Katherine Sutton

LMLGC President

Katherine Sutton is an entrepreneur, proud mother of a licensed pilot and computer warfare engineer. A native of New York State, Katherine has made the Southeast her home for nearly 20 years. She is a graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast and Goldman Sachs, along with Dale Carnegie and Pathways of Successful Living.

 

Currently, Katherine is the Marketing Manager for the Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum and has just launched KMS Business Marketing Solutions, a company which offers innovative marketing for businesses and professionals on the Gulf Coast and in the southeast. She also has a blog called The Gulf Coasters, where she highlights the accomplishments and lives of interesting residents along the Gulf Coast. Previously, Katherine was the Operating Partner for FroYo Café and Sweets in the heart of New Orleans Central Business District for more than six years.  

 

Upon moving back to the Gulf Coast, it has been a dream of hers to expand LikeMinded Ladies to Mississippi and is excited that is now a reality in 2019! Katherine is the President of LikeMinded Ladies Gulf Coast, serves on the board of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Attractions Association and is a past board member of Pink Heart Funds, Heritage Trails Partnership, and Public Relations Association of Mississippi.   

Lindsay Fontan Mahl

May 2017

Lindsay is an entrepreneur, wife, and mom of 2 kids and 2 dogs. She is a New Orleans native – graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican and Loyola University. She and her husband own First Look 3D4D Ultrasound which specializes in gender determination and HD ultrasound experiences, as well as ABC Fire & Burglar Alarm which specializes in residential and small business security.  In addition to the two business Lindsay serves as the treasurer and executive member of LikeMinded Ladies.  If there are ever breaks from the businesses, her and her family love to travel and explore the US.  Some of their favorite places to visit are Disney World, the beach, Colorado, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park.  She is also a lover of all things food & wine!  

Karen Vallis

October 2016

Karen has over 30 years in the staffing industry where she has managed across all lines of business; from Adminstrative, Legal, Manufacturing and Professional/Technical. Her most recent role was District Director for one of the largest markets in the country, Houston Texas, where she worked with a large Global Staffing company. She has spent many years creating, reviewing and presenting candidates and their resumes to clients, as well as interviewing thousands of candidates and coaching them on how to best present themselves to get the jobs with her clients.
